Our BSC Learning Network was first established as part of local police and fire reform and met five times prior to the launch of Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on 1 April 2013. The focus of events, which have attracted up to 180 practitioners, has since widened to encompass the broader Building Safer Communities.
We have also established a smaller learning network and Knowledge Hub group for practitioners involved in place-based approaches. This met for the first time in Edinburgh on 25 August 2014 and met again on 29 June 2015 at Brunton Hall in Musselburgh. This was a regional event for East of Scotland practitioners, and follow-up events will be held for the West and North in due course. The next Learning Network event (on Reassuring the Public) will take place on 24 November at Verity House in Edinburgh.
