What's been happening?
The Building safer Communities (BSC) Advisory Group met at Verity House in Edinburgh on Wednesday 8th October. Around 45 expert practitioners got together to provide feedback on a draft communications tool, consider the development of phase 1 sub aims and consider next steps for the programme. To ensure communities were at the heart of our thinking, we heard powerful personal stories from volunteers of Gorbals based charity, Bridging the Gap. A note of the event will be published soon.
Staff changes in the Building Safer Communities team. Lorna Ascroft, Deputy Head of the Scottish Government’s Community Safety Unit, will be leaving the programme to take up a new role as Team leader for Self-directed Support in Social Care Directorate and will finish up on 6 November 2014. Recruitment of Lorna’s replacement is underway and an announcement will be made in due course. Congratulations Lorna and all the best!
